Elena is a Carleton University student, having studied Psychology with a minor in ASL (American Sign Language). ASL has always been a passion of hers, and combined with her love of children, teaching baby sign language classes seemed like the perfect fit.
Elena started taking ASL classes in 2009 at the MacKay centre downtown Montreal, and discovered that there was a minor in ASL offered at Carleton where she started school in 2010, first majoring in Linguistics and then deciding on Psychology. She has been babysitting young children since age 12, and loves working with babies and finds it fascinating that there is a way to communicate with children who are not able to speak yet.
Elena is very excited to be teaching classes in Ottawa, hoping to spread knowledge about the benefits of signing with your child after seeing great results with children of close friends.
She is also certified in Standard First Aid and CPR/AED Level C
